I have had dogs and cats as pets my whole life, and working with animals is my dream job! I have worked with all kinds of dogs and cats, from energetic and playful pets to seniors, rescues and pets with special needs. Every dog and cat has a unique personality, and I enjoy getting to know and caring for each pet as an individual.

 

I am a loving and reliable companion to pets when their parents aren't available. Contact me if you need a professional local dog walker, puppy walker or in-home pet sitter (dog sitter or cat sitter) when you are at work, going on vacation, attending a special event or recovering from surgery.

I have sought out professional education and certifications to build on my skills and experience and to make sure I am providing the highest level of care.

I am a Victoria Stilwell Academy Certified Dog Trainer (VSA-CDT). I have also completed Reactivity for Dog Training & Behavior Professionals through the Victoria Stilwell Academy, as well as an eight-week mentorship with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) focused on impulsivity, reactivity and fear.

 

I am a Certified Professional Animal Care Provider (CPACP) with PACCC (Professional Animal Care Certification Council) and a Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) with Pet Sitters International (PSI). I also have a Certificate of Completion in Cat and Dog First Aid, including CPR.

I am a Fear Free Certified Professional and have completed the Fear Free Shelters Program. Fear Free's mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety and stress (FAS) in pets by educating and inspiring the people who care for them.

 

Through the Victoria Stilwell Academy, I expanded my education in canine behavior, learning theory, positive reinforcement and humane, reward-based training methods. This education is an important part of the way I approach the dogs in my care. I treat every dog as an individual, pay attention to signs of fear, stress and discomfort, and provide opportunities for enrichment, exploration and choice. I use positive, compassionate methods to encourage desirable behavior, build confidence and help make walks and visits enjoyable and rewarding.

I bring that same thoughtful, individualized approach to the cats in my care, providing enrichment and paying close attention to their individual personalities, comfort and preferences.

Before I started my professional pet sitting and dog walking service in 2019, I volunteered for over two years walking dogs at the San Diego Humane Society for several hours each week. This gave me hands-on experience with hundreds of wonderful dogs that I wouldn't have been able to work with otherwise. I also volunteered walking dogs and socializing puppies, cats and kittens for over a year at Helen Woodward. I was a Red Level dog handler, requiring the highest level of skills on their yellow, orange and red scale. I treat all animals with love and respect as if they were my own.

I am continuing to expand my knowledge and hands-on experience through professional development and mentorship. Making sure that pets are safe, happy and healthy is my priority.
